Can someone please clarify whether the MIRROR technology is in SQL 2005 Ent
now or is it something to be added later?
Thanks.
Hi Jon
It is released with the RTM build, but it is only included for evaluation
purposes - meaning that it isn't supported if you use it.
This is only conjuecture, but I'd expect to see Microsoft release a SP with
it fully supported some time next year hopefully.

|||Just to add a bit: The official words are that it will be supported H1 2006.

Do you have any links that give an overview on mirroring? At work, we were
recently discussing implementing some type of mirror / backup solution and
wanted to find out what it is and how it works in SQL Server 2005. Also,
does anyone know if mirroring will be supported in the Workgroup edition?
Thanks in advance for any replies,
Ben
|||Plenty of information in SQL Server 2005 Books Online (downloadable separately through
www.microsoft.com/sql). Only EE and SE.

Thanks Tibor -- I'll download BOL as soon a I get a chance. By the way,
'EE' is sort of confusing since it can mean both Enterprise Edition and
Express Edition ;-) In this case, I'm fairly certain you mean Enterprise
Edition ...
Thanks again for the information!
Ben
